It's like being in a swaying castle!" Bryce nodded in agreement. "Let's ask if we can sleep out here tonight," Isaac suggested.

"You just don't understand," whined Julie one evening when her parents wouldn't give her permission to go to the home of a classmate and watch a movie with a group of girls.

Ethan was at his locker when he overheard some boys down the hallway. "Hey, Rob," said Theo, "did ya hear the latest?" Then Theo told a very nasty joke, and the boys laughed loudly. Ethan quickly left, but all day long the joke kept popping back into his mind.

"I love being out in the snow," said Stacey, catching a snowflake on the tip of her tongue.

"Why does Grandpa have to hurt so much?" Bryan asked his dad as they left the nursing home one afternoon.

"Ouch!" yelled Leah, jumping off the couch. "Be more careful, Adam! Watch where you're throwing your paper airplanes!"

Evan tried to stay out of the movers' way as they carried furniture into the apartment. He hated moving, and it showed in his expression. "Why the long face?" asked one of the men who was helping.

 Karen ran so hard that it hurt. She glanced over her shoulder. The lion was still chasing her and getting closer. Suddenly, she tripped and fell flat on her face! A huge roar echoed, and she could almost feel the hot breath on her neck. She screamed . . . and found that she was lying in her own bed. All the covers were kicked off. Her forehead was sweaty and she shook with fear.

"Mom, what's that awful smell in the garage?" Courtney asked when she got home from school.

"The Spark Plug" 火星塞

Jason gave the starter cord on the lawn mower a quick pull. Nothing happened. He pulled it again . . . and again. But no matter how many times he pulled the cord, the lawn mower would not start. Finally, he sat down on one of the lawn chairs with a disgusted look on his face. "This isn't my day," he grumbled as his father came out of the house. "First Mr. Bradley bawled me out, and now the mower won't start." He glanced up-he hadn't meant to tell Dad about Mr. Bradley, and he hurried to explain. "Honest, Dad, I didn't do anything very bad-I just said something that Mr. Bradley called a 'minced oath.'"

"There goes Old Faithful!" exclaimed Ben as they watched hot water burst from the ground and shoot high into the air. He and his sister Sandy were watching the video Dad had made on their vacation to Yellowstone National Park. "The park ranger said the rock deep underground is so hot that it heats the spring water," added Ben.

Jordan went outside when he saw his friend Devin bouncing a ball in the driveway next door. "Hey, Devin!" called Jordan.

喬登走到屋外，看到鄰居迪文在車道上拍球。喬登打招呼:”嗨，迪文!”

"Hi," Devin called back. "Wanna play soccer? We'll have to play in your yard, though, because Dad spent two days reseeding our lawn-and guess what? My little brother Nat and his friends messed it all up again."

"The Woodcarver"木雕師

David held the bat steady. I have to get a hit, he thought. I just have to! If I get out, our team will lose the game and be disqualified from the tournament. The ball sailed toward David. He swung as hard as he could, but the ball bounced slowly toward the pitcher. A moment later, the game was over.

大衛穩穩握住球棒.想著:”我必須要打擊成功.一定要成功!假如我出局,我們球隊就會輸掉且喪失比賽資格”.球飛向大衛.他盡了全力揮棒,但球卻慢慢彈回到投手那裡。不久後,球賽結束。

Timothy (said at once ): "I bet Diane broke something again, she's always dropping things!“
Timothy(立刻說):“我打賭Diane又打破了什麼東西，她總是掉落東西!”

 Trust God, not feelings

Mary zigzagged around mud puddles as she walked home in the rain, but her feet were still getting wet.
瑪莉在下雨天，繞過泥濘的水坑走路回家，但是她的腳還是弄濕了。   

I know Mom and Dad both had stuff they had to do today, but it seems like they could have gotten somebody to give me a ride, she thought gloomily.
她沮喪想著，我知道媽咪和爹地今天都有事要做，但是他們似乎可以找人來載我吧!
